Although we do not have a shelter, we sometimes encounter an animal whose health we feel we can dramatically improve within a week or two, just with clean water, food and care. If the animal is homeless, we know we’ll find a good home once its appearance better reflects the great pet it will be, or if the animal belongs to someone, we then work with the person to help maintain the animal’s health once we return it.
In every case, we have found that people really respond to these animals, which for the first time they see has beautiful, healthy pets and it helps them take a second look at stray animals and see that they can be wonderful companions.
